This gorgeous little face was a bit of a challenge. I didn’t have a pattern for a cavapoo so I had a bit of a browse through my books and came up with a combination that might work. Not 100% confident I contacted Kerry Lord who designs the patterns and she had a better proposal.… Continue reading Honey the Cavapoo
Category: Charitable Creatures

My charitable creatures are crocheted animals. I crochet a favourite animal or pet and in return people donate to their chosen charity. Here you can see some of the animals and the charities they have benefited or stories behind them.
Most crochet patterns are from ‘Edward’s Menagerie’ at Toft.co.uk
Warrior Badger
Mini Badger was made for my friend Kate. I met Kate through my yoga class and sometimes when we were holding a particularly tricky pose Kate would exclaim ‘Oh Badgers!’ which generally resulted in a lot of agreement and giggling. Kate has a new job teaching children with special educational needs and would you believe… Continue reading Warrior Badger
Rag Doll Cats
These rag doll cats are definitely one of my favourite breeds. Meet Boots and Beans (licking lips after tasty treat to bribe for photo!). I think I might have to give Zach a job as my official photographer to #charitablecreatures. I loved making these, not only was the wool and fluffiness of them very tactile… Continue reading Rag Doll Cats
Milo the Cocker Spaniel
The lovely thing about making these #charitablecreatures is the stories that emerge and the special little coincidences that appear on the way. This is mini Milo made for Michelle to send to her daughter Izzy who is having a year in France before going to Bristol Uni which is of course where Nick and I… Continue reading Milo the Cocker Spaniel
Cookie the Cat
This is Cookie, another cat crocheted for Nikki in return for a donation to The Trussell Trust, a charity who support food banks in the UK. Cookie has absolutely stunning markings too, I made them a bit clearer using double black or double brown instead of mixing the wools together like I did with Gizmo.… Continue reading Cookie the Cat
Gizmo the Cat
Gizmo has been made for Nikki, in return for a donation to Macmillan Cancer. Gizmo has beautiful markings with a very soft white chest. These cats are the hardest to make as I need to crochet with five balls of wool on the go all at once! The markings are really tricky as the pattern… Continue reading Gizmo the Cat
Baby Rainbow Highland Cow
This is Douglas the Highland Cow, made for Thea using rainbow wool. Check out his mini horns! Thea loves every type of animal and it was a tough choice. In the end she went for the ‘Hee-land Cow’ as she’s half Scot. I know he’ll be treasured.
Naked Baby Hedgehog
I got a new book from Kerry Lord’s Toft series which is patterns for mini versions of pets. There was this tiny hedgehog in it and Tegan wanted me to make her one immediately. She chose her colours and I got on with the crochet. It was only once I’d made the body that we… Continue reading Naked Baby Hedgehog
Doodles the Dalmatian
I have to admit, I do love Dalmatians. Their markings are beautiful and their eyes are so intelligent. This is Doodles, a well loved old boy. The spots are quite easy to crochet in but not so easy to match up! Viv has made a donation to CALM which is the charity ‘Campaign Against Living… Continue reading Doodles the Dalmatian
Sheba the Black Labrador
Sheba is a very loyal and extremely well loved beautiful black labrador guide dog. She is well known in the Oatlands area of Harrogate and amongst her owners Zoom chat groups. I made this mini #charitablecreature for Kate, we haven’t know each other for long but at exactly the time that we were getting to… Continue reading Sheba the Black Labrador
